USA Hockey Olympics

The USA hockey team was expected to medal this year in Sochi like they did 4 years ago in Vancouver. They started out well with a 7-1 victory over Slovakia. The win gave the Team confidence but it became apparent Slovakia wasn't very talented by loosing all four of their games. T.J. Oshie's shootout tied the Russia game 2-2 which kept the US in the Olympics.  In the game against Canada Brooks Orpik let Jamie Benn score which led to the 1-0 win for Canada. Finland shutout The US 5-0 in the semi-final game. After about forty minutes in the game it seemed like Team USA called it quits by having multiple dirty penalties. The USA was outmatched by the stronger teams and it seems that the players chosen for the team were the problem.

Micheal Sam announces he's Gay

Micheal Sam is a 6-2,255 pound Defensive End from Missouri. His career stats are 35 Tackles,39 assist, 9.5 sacks, and 2 Interceptions. Sam was an excellent Pass Rusher for Missouri, but had a secret that most Locker Rooms aren't accustomed to. Sam's secret was his sexual orientation. Micheal revealed to his Mizzou team that he was gay and received great support from his team mates. Team mates stated that before Micheal "came out" he was quiet and anti-social.
Micheal Sam publicly announced "I am an openly, proud gay man" on ESPN. Sam is entering the draft, but many teams are concerned how their locker rooms will react to a "Gay Player". Sam said," I understand how big this is. It's a big deal. No one has done this before. And it's kind of a nervous process, but I know who I want to be ... I want to be a football player in the NFL. The team that drafts Micheal Sam will be breaking new grounds in the NFL and might bring equality to the NFL for homosexuals.

Titans Hire Ken Whisenhunt as Head Coach

On January 13,  the Titans hired Ken Whisenhunt to be the Head Coach. Whisenhunt is the former Offensive coordinator from the Chargers. It's surprising Whisenhunt chose the Titans over the Lions considering the established offense the Lions already posses. Chris Johnson's future with the Titans will be probably be decided by the new head coach this  off season. Whisenhunt didn't answer any questions about Johnson's future. Whisenhunt said, "I like what I've seen out of him off the tape" about Shonn Greene though. Alterraun Verner is another name to watch for as his Contract expires. Jake Locker may be replaced if his injuries aren't .I expect a lot of changes with the Team that hopefully reflect on their record next season. The Titans need Whisenhunt to lead the team out of the slump they've been in the last few years.

Super Bowl Recap

Super Bowl XL VIII was dominated by the Seattle Seahawks with a final outcome of 43-8. The Seahawks  showed their confidence in their defense early by electing to defer the opening kick-off. The decision paid off because the first play for the Broncos resulted in a Safety. The Seahawks put up two field goals in the first quarter making the score 8-0. In the second quarter Lynch scored on an one yard inside run. Peyton Manning was Intercepted by M. Smith for a touchdown. In the third quarter Percy Harvin Scored on Punt return for 87 Yards.R. Wilson passed to Kearse for a 23 yard touchdown. D. Thomas caught a 14 yard pass for a touchdown. The fourth quarter began with a failed drive from the broncos then a 10 yard Touchdown reception from D. Baldwin. I expected a evenly matched game, but the Seahawks outmatched the Broncos in every phase of the game.

Titans Fire Mike Muchnak

 Mike Munchak

Mike Munchak has been involved with the Titans organization for thirty years. Unfortunately he was fired from being head coach after another season of missing the playoffs. For Munchak's three year term as head coach he went 22-26 and never made the playoffs. Munchak is a former Hall of Fall Lineman and Offensive coordinator for the team. The Titans General Manager, Ruston Webster, stated, "First I want to thank Mike Munchak for his professionalism through this process and thank him for his years of dedication to the Titans/Oilers organization. He is first-class and I wish him and his family nothing but the best. The last week has been a difficult time trying to navigate through many issues to find the best resolution for this franchise moving forward. Tough choices were presented to all sides and the end result was to part ways and move forward without Mike. We will immediately begin a search for a new head coach."
Mike Munchak thanked the Titans organization and has taken a job as O-Line coach at The Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jake Locker's Injury

During the week 10 game against the Jaguars, Locker Injured his foot. The titans have been depending on his mobility outside of the pocket and development as a pocket passer. The season ending injury was a big blow to the titans, but the back up quarterback,Ryan Fitzpatrick, brings experience to the Titans offense. As a Titan fan I hope Locker can become healthy, yet being injury prone has weakened his chances of being the Franchise Quarterback that he's been praised as.
The Tennessee Titans have been trying to re-amp their program since Mike Munchak's arrival of being head coach. This off-season we'll look forward to Muchak's decision of the future franchise quarterback the team has needed.
